Last month I received a gift in the mail from a friend, the inflatable Gex toy that came with the collector's edition of the Gex remaster from Limited Run Games. Some of the goodies that came with the special edition were available for sale on their own but this was not one of them, hence Pooltoy Gex's speech bubble saying he's impressed that you spent two hundred dollars just for him.

I made an offhanded joke that I wanted to draw the inflatable Gex... and that joke kind of turned into me actually committing to the bit enough to finish the entire piece. I know the colors are off from what Gex actually looks like in the games and elsewhere but the colors of the inflatable toy don't exactly match up with Gex's actual colors. There are no gradients for starters, instead the purple stripes are very deliberate hard strokes along with Gex's back being a solid stripe of blue. Gex's strange olive & forest green coloration here matches the toy, since that was the whole point of me drawing this. The only difference is the valve is actually on the side of his tail and not his navel, but I know that for people who are really into pooltoys the placement of the valve is a big part of the appeal. So, you're welcome.

(The actual toy this art is based on is about 3' tall and despite my low-key affinity for pooltoys and the like he's actually the first one I've ever owned. He's lovely, I enjoy cuddling him haha.)
